In recent years, the SUV market in India has experienced exceptional growth, with buyers opting toward cars that provide a commanding driving experience, substantial room, and the ability to handle varied terrains. Because of the huge demand for high-performance SUVs, manufacturers are pushing the frontiers of engineering and design to produce a new breed of high-performance SUVs. Let's have a look at the most powerful SUV one can obtain if money is no object.

Lotus Eletre R

The Lotus Eletre SUV was recently launched in India and it also happens to be the only EV on this list. Now the Eltre does come with a less powerful version but we're talking about the the Eletre R with 918PS and 985Nm of torque. The top speed in the R variant is 265kmph and 0-100kmph takes just 2.9 seconds.

The Eletre R comes with a 109kWh battery and has a claimed range of about 490km. The Lotus Eletre R is priced at Rs 2.99 crore.

Aston Martin DBX 707

The 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine in the Aston Martin DBX707 has undergone some modifications, and it now generates 707 PS and 900 Nm. It is connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission that drives all four wheels. According to claims, the vehicle has a 0-100kmph time of 3.5 seconds and a peak speed of 311 kmph.

The Aston Martin DBX 707 is the most expensive SUV on this list and is priced at Rs 4.63 crore.

Lamborghini Urus Performante

The Urus Performante makes 16PS more from its 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, upping outputs to 666PS and 850 Nm. The 0 to 100 kmph time is 3.3s and the top speed is 306 kmph while the power-to-weight ratio has improved with a 47 kg weight saving.

The Urus Performante is priced at Rs 4.22 crore.

BMW XM

The powertrain of the BMW XM comprises a twin-turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 petrol mill, a 29.5kWh battery pack, and an electric motor. The engine makes 489PS and 650Nm of torque, while the motor produces 197PS and 280Nm. Notably, the combined output is rated at 653PS and 800Nm of torque.

With an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and xDrive all-wheel drive, the XM can achieve 0-100kmph in just 4.3 seconds. Being a plug-in hybrid, the SUV promises a WLTP-tested EV-only range of up to 88km with a top speed of 140kmph. The BMW XM is priced at Rs 2.60 crore.

Audi RSQ8

The Audi RS Q8 sports an impressive design, a roomy cabin and a 4.0-litre turbocharged V8 twin-turbo engine with 600PS and 800Nm of torque. It actually shares the same powertrain with the Urus as they are part of the VW Group.

Mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission and Quattro all-wheel drive, the RSQ8 is priced at Rs 2.22 crore.
