COVID19 Impact: Hyundai India pledges Rs 20 crore in relief measures

Hyundai India, the country's second-largest carmaker has pledged Rs 20 crore towards fighting the second COVID19 wave in India through the Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), its philanthropic arm. This is the third phase of initiatives for fighting COVID-19 from the company and is aimed at the most affected states of Maharashtra, Delhi, Haryana, Telangana and Tamil Nadu.

Under this initiative, Hyundai will set up oxygen generation plants across hospitals in these states to improve oxygen supply to patients and allow hospitals to become self-reliant on oxygen. The Korean carmaker will also set up medicare facilities and other infrastructure to provide immediate relief to COVID-19 patients in these states in collaboration with state governments and hospitals. There well also be support in terms of augmenting manpower and operational costs at hospitals dealing with the crisis. Further, the mobile medical units and telemedicine clinics already set up in rural areas will be ramped up to tackle the spread of the disease.

Given the heavy toll this second wave has taken on the country, Hyundai says it is evaluating all options to expedite the deployment of these resources on a war footing. Additionally, Hyundai had organized a vaccination drive for its staff aged above 45 in its Sriperumbudur manufacturing facility through the local government health centre.

In times of despair we often lose hope amidst the chaos, but it is also times such as these that brings out the best of humanity with in us all. To offer meaningful assistance to the most affected cities and states, Hyundai has redeployed its resources and channelled efforts that will provide relief during these difficult circumstances. We are organizing resources on a war footing and hope to help in abating this crisis."
