BMW iX xDrive50 launched in India at Rs 1.40 crore

The BMW iX has enjoyed its time in India as it has become the most popular luxury SUV in the EV space. The variant that has dominated this space though is the xDrive40 and BMW thought this would be the perfect time to bring a more powerful version with greater range. The newly launched iX xDrive50 has been launched in India at Rs 1.40 crore.

BMW iX xDrive50: Powertrain and Battery

A 111.5kWh battery pack powers the BMW iX xDrive50, allowing the dual-motor arrangement to produce 520PS and 765Nm of torque while sporting a WLTP-claimed range of up to 635 kilometres. This top variant of the iX can be recharged using a DC fast charger of up to 195kW, which allows it to charge from 10 to 80 percent in about 35 minutes. All that power is good enough to take this SUV from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds.

For reference, the iX xDrive40 has a 76.6kWh and produces 330PS and 630Nm of peak torque from its dual motors and has a range of up to 414 kilometres on a single charge.

BMW iX xDrive50: Exterior and Interior

The xDrive50 receives a new set of 22-inch alloy wheels, as opposed to the 40 model, and adaptive suspension as standard. The new generation of BMW Laserlight is available as an option that has adaptive LED headlights with matrix function so is the exterior titanium bronze finish.

The electric SUV's interior has a freestanding 14.9-inch curved touchscreen entertainment system, a 12.3-inch digital interface screen, a head-up display, an 18-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, adaptive cruise control, and a surround-view camera.

The BMW iX comes with a standard two-year unlimited-kilometre warranty. The batteries come with a warranty that lasts for eight years or 1,60,000 kilometres. The iX continues to rival the Mercedes Benz EQE SUV, Audi Q8 e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace.
