Aston Martin DB12 launch tomorrow: What should you expect?

Aston Martin is all set to bring its latest grand tourer to India and that special day is tomorrow. The grand tourer is not just the DB11's replacement, but also the start of a new era for the brand. The DB12 is even referred to as the world's first super tourer by Aston Martin. The DB12 offers a fresh and modern design, innovative and performance-oriented features and equipment, and a new and tech-laden cockpit.

Aston Martin DB12: Powertrain and Suspension

The V12 engine from the DB11 has been replaced by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 from Mercedes-AMG. It produces 680PS and 800Nm, which is 41PS and 100Nm higher than the V12 in the DB11. As a result, the 'super' tourer can reach 100kmph from a standstill in just 3.5 seconds and tops out at 325kmph.

All that power needs a suspension capable of withstanding the additional forces, so Aston Martin offers next-generation adaptive dampers and stronger anti-roll bars. There are three driving modes: GT, Sport, and Sport+, each with varying levels of responsiveness and rigidity. The DB12 is also the first DB model with an electronic rear differential, which can go from completely locked to fully open in milliseconds.

Aston Martin DB12: Design

The front end has a larger grille, new-look lighting, and a reworked splitter. They also enlarged the front and backtracks to give the coupe a more muscular appearance, and the DB12 debuts the subtly modified logo that would appear on all future Aston Martin vehicles.

The unique vents behind the front wheels remain, and the aesthetic changes to the rear end are slight. The car sits on standard 21-inch wheels hiding cast-iron 400-millimetre front discs and 360-millimetre rear discs.

Aston Martin DB12: Interior

The coupe has a huge drive-centric centre console in the cockpit. The new system has a 10.25-inch touchscreen and works with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Aston Martin claims that this is the company's first in-house built infotainment system. According to Aston Martin, the infotainment system incorporates a new navigation system with internet connectivity and 3D mapping, as well as a mobile device app that receives over-the-air updates.

This new Aston Martin will take on the likes of the Ferrari Roma and Mclaren GT on the Indian roads. We expect the car to be priced slightly closer to Rs 5 crore price point.
