All-electric Mahindra XUV400 to get additional features

The growing electric vehicle (EV) market in India has sparked intense competition among on-sale EVs, with brands vying to offer higher range, faster charging, and more features. Currently, Tata leads the EV race, but Mahindra is making strides to catch up with its rival and attract new customers by introducing new features in the all-electric XUV400. Reportedly, the brand plans to equip the XUV400 EV with eight distinctive features.

Mahindra XUV400 EV: New features

As a part of the update, the XUV400 EV, according to a media report, is set to get Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Hill Hold Assist (HHA), cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), front fog lamps, two tweeters in addition to four speakers, and boot lamp. It is to be noted that these feature additions will be exclusive to the top-spec EL variant of the XUV400.

The XUV400 continues with six airbags, four disc brakes, leatherette seat covers, an electric sunroof, Bluesense+ connected car tech, smartwatch connectivity, a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system, auto headlamps and wipers, and three drive modes (Fun, Fast, and Fearless).

Meanwhile, Tata already offers similar features in the Nexon EV. Similar to the XUV400, the EV also recently underwent an update as the competition in the Indian EV market is driving manufacturers to improve their offerings. The update has brought a new larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with support to six languages (English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, and Tamil) and over 180 voice commands, reworked sound system, a high-definition camera, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The automaker had previously extended the range of the Nexon EV Max to 453km from 437km via the OTA update.

Mahindra XUV400 EV: Powertrain

Powering the XUV400 are 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh battery packs. While the former offers a driving range of 375km, the latter has a travel range of 456km. The 39.4kWh battery pack can be charged in a claimed 50 minutes from a zero to 80 per cent using a 50kW DC charger. Linked to both the batteries is a permanent magnet synchronous motor that generates 150PS and 310Nm of torque. Notably, the battery packs and the electric motor are IP67-rated.
