New Renault Duster: Design

As seen in the patent pictures, the upcoming Duster will get an overhauled exterior compared with its predecessor. The SUV also appears to have grown in dimensions. It gets an ultra-wide front grille with integrated LED headlamps and Y-shaped daytime running lights (probably adjoining a full-length light bar), chunky body cladding, air curtains in the front bumper, Y-shaped LED taillamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and new alloy wheels.

However, the patent pictures also show the new-gen Duster missing out on the sunroof. On the flip side, almost all its rivals in India, such as the refreshed Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and MG Astor, come with an electric panoramic sunroof. Whereas, the Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq get a single-pane unit.

New Renault Duster: Interior and features

Although the details about its interior are unavailable at the moment, we expect it to feature a modern and upmarket cabin, which might also take inspiration from on-sale Renault models in the western markets.

The French automaker could equip it with a full digital cluster, a sizable touchscreen infotainment system similar to the Austral (which gets a tablet-like screen powered by Google), advanced driver assistance systems, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, USB Type-C ports, a hi-fi sound system, connected car tech, and more.

New Renault Duster: Powertrain

The upcoming next-gen Duster will sit atop a new platform, making it future-proof to offer sustainable powertrain options. It is also imporatnt to note that the Renault Group has decided to phase out diesel engines, so it is hard to say whether the new Duster will come equipped with a diesel powertrain. That said, there are likely to be updated petrol engines, possibly with mild-hybrid functionality, and a new E-Tech hybird powertrain similar to its Austral, Clio, and Arkana, among others.
